Chris Herbert, APN, Joins Orthopedics Team
After working in Emergency Medicine for over a decade, Chris Herbert will officially transition to the Orthopedics Clinic on October 1st. In his new role, Chris will see various types of patients, including those with acute conditions like fractures and soft tissue injuries and patients with chronic conditions such as arthritis.
After earning his Biology degree in 2007 and Nursing degree in 2009, Chris went on to gain his Masters in Nursing in 2019. He worked as an ER nurse for about ten years before joining KSB in 2019 and has remained ever since.
“I enjoy practicing in a rural area with a team that also provides many specialties services such as orthopedics,” says Herbert. “I have enjoyed the variety and unpredictable nature of the ER. I also enjoy the acute nature of seeing ER patients, but I’m now looking forward to diving into orthopedics and focusing on one specialty area.”
Although his focus has been on the diverse and fast-paced environment of the ER, Chris has always been interested in orthopedics and enjoys the mechanical nature of the specialty. “In the ER, I may only see a patient once and have little opportunity to follow up on their care. The transition to Orthopedics will allow me to establish longer relationships with patients and follow up on their condition, and I’m looking forward to that.”
Chris has always enjoyed sports and looks forward to a new adventure. “I am particularly interested in sports-related injuries,” Chris adds. “While working in the ER, I had the opportunity to care for a range of orthopedic patients. I feel this gives me a solid foundation as I transition into orthopedics and care for more patients with sports-related conditions.”
