Celebrating Ultrasound Awareness Month at KSB
October is Ultrasound Awareness Month, and we are proud to celebrate our dedicated ultrasound technologists at KSB. While many people associate ultrasounds primarily with pregnancy, our team performs over 25 different types of scans.
Ultrasounds can detect arterial blockages and venous clots and evaluate gynecological issues like cysts and fibroids. Thyroid and abdominal ultrasounds assess organs like the liver, pancreas, and kidneys. Additionally, our team provides ultrasound guidance for biopsies and needle placements.
“Our job is often misunderstood,” says Megan Cole, Lead Ultrasonographer. “We are trained to perform a variety of ultrasounds on soft tissues, organs, and vasculature and must be knowledgeable about what is normal versus abnormal. Some scans may be quick and easy, but some are also hard and heartbreaking.”
KSB’s imaging team consists of four full-time sonographers, three PRN (as needed) technologists, and one travel tech. Our technologists are committed to staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and adhering to American College of Radiology guidelines, which evolve with new advancements.
Join us in recognizing and appreciating the exceptional work of our ultrasound technologists!
